Marion Lee Gundermann, resident of Dallas, Texas and formerly of Owasso, passed from this life on Sunday, April 19, 2015 at the age of 91 years. Marion was born December 10, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to William Herold and Elsie Mae (Chambers) Lee. She was raised and received her education in New York City and was united in marriage there to Harold Gundermann on March 13, 1943. To this union, four children were born. Marion and Harold moved to Owasso and started Gundy’s Airport. In her later years, she went back to school and received her bachelor’s degree, and for awhile taught in different private schools. Following the death of her husband in 1978, she moved to Tulsa and in 2010 made Dallas home. Marion loved dancing and swimming, playing the piano and singing. She also enjoyed attending various churches and meeting new people.
Those that survive include her children – Paul Gundermann and wife Barbara of Atlanta, Georgia, Doug Gundermann and wife Bonnie of Dallas, Texas, Jeanne Twilley and husband John of Oklahoma City, OK and Alice Pickens and husband Randall of St. Louis, Missouri. Also surviving are 14 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Marion was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 24, 2015 in the Chapel of Mowery Funeral Service with Rev. Leonard Pirtle officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in the Fairview Cemetery, Owasso. Those that would like to honor Marion’s memory may do so by contributing to Little Lighthouse.org in lieu of flowers.
