Marvin Wayne Baker, resident of Collinsville, passed away on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa at the age of 79 years. Marvin was born September 25, 1936, at Hubbard, Texas, to Dillard and Pearl (Alcorn) Baker. He was raised and received his education in Hubbard. Marvin was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Korea. Following his marriage to Janis C. Buxton, they made their home mostly in Pasadena, Texas. Marvin was a supervisor for road and bridge construction. Janis preceded him in death on December 12, 2001, and he moved to Oklahoma in 2002. In his earlier years, Marvin enjoyed fishing, he also loved to listen to classic country music.
Those that survive include a daughter, Carolyn Kaye Baker of Pasadena, TX, and sisters, Loretta Wooldridge of Owasso and Mandy Deloris Bacon of Longview, TX. Marvin is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members. Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and six brothers.
Marvin will be interred next to his wife in the Morse Cemetery at Buna, TX. Arrangements were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
