Mattie Ellen Bryson was born November 21, 1926, in Owasso, Oklahoma, to John William and Jewel Lee Vohon Weatherford. She died Tuesday, November 19, 2019, in Owasso at the age of 93 years. Mattie was reared and educated in Owasso and was a graduate of Owasso High School class of 1944. She was married June 18, 1945, in Claremore, Oklahoma, to W.J. “Dub” Bryson. She spent most of her working life as a homemaker. She enjoyed working in the garden, canning, cooking and baking. She also enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Mattie and “Dub” were active members of Odd Fellows and Rebecca’s in their younger years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Dub, brothers, Burel and Albert Weatherford, sisters, Mable Fritts and husband Jack, Mildred Turner and husband Loren. She was also preceded in death by nephews, John Will Fritts and wife Betty, Orvil Fritts, Billy Jack Fritts, and nieces Ida Mae Jacobs and husband Earl, Sara Fritts, and great nieces and nephews, Sharon, Karen, Kevin, and Nathan Fritts.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Thursday, November 21, 2019, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 22, 2019, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso with Pastor Leonard Pirtle officiating. Committal and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
