Melba Raye Weaver was born September 14, 1942, near Pearson, Oklahoma, to Ray Leonard and Hazel Lee (Harper) Dowell. She died Thursday, February 13, 2014, in Owasso, Oklahoma, at the age of 71 years. Melba was reared and educated in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Webster High School Class of 1960. She completed her education studying at the University of Tulsa and the University of Arkansas. She was married December 22, 1961, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Mike Weaver. Melba worked outside the home for several years as a loan officer with the Central Iowa Credit Union. She and her husband Mike have made their home in Owasso since 2003. Melba was a member of Boston Avenue Methodist Church in Tulsa and the P.E.O. Sisterhood, Chapter EY. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including reading and especially serving others as a mentor.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014, at the Baptist Village Chapel in Owasso with Reverend Mr. Clyde Brummett officiating. Committal services and interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma.
