Mildred Alice DeLung, longtime Collinsville resident, passed from this life on Sunday, August 10, 2014, at the age of 95 years. Mildred was born on November 13, 1918, in St. Paul, Arkansas, to Earnest Abraham and Stella Ann (Milligan) Lucas. When she was 13, the family moved to Collinsville, where she graduated high school with the class of 1937. Mildred then attended Oklahoma College for Women in Chickasha, OK, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Business in 1941. On June 21, 1957, she was united in marriage to Robert Mark DeLung in Claremore, OK. As well as being a homemaker and mother, Mildred also worked as a bookkeeper. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville where she taught Sunday School for over 60 years. Mildred’s priority was always her faith and her family, spending many happy times with them especially the grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. She also enjoyed reading, traveling and was a “Tulsa Shock” fan.
Those that survive include her six children – Ann Sweeney and husband Mike of Collinsville, Nancy Ritchie and husband Bob of Miami, OK, Robert Peterson and Bill Peterson, both of Collinsville, Donald Peterson and wife Jan of Claremore, OK and Cindy Noble and husband Charley of Oologah, OK; 11 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Also surviving are a brother Frank Beu and wife Shirley of Sugarland, TX; a sister Mary Jane Meade of Tulsa; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Mildred was preceded in death by her first husband Henry Robert Peterson, second husband Robert Mark DeLung in 1973, a granddaughter Donna Sweeney and a brother Keith Lucas. Funeral services will be Thursday, August 14, 2014, in the sanctuary of the First Baptist Church of Collinsville with Pastor Tim Prock officiating. Burial will follow at Ridgelawn Cemetery, Collinsville. Serving as casket bearers will be Morgan Sweeney, Brian Sweeney, Joe Ritchie, Josh Mahurin, Jake Mahurin and Jeff Bogle. Honorary bearers will be John Wyatt, Brian Bell, Rusty Garoutte, Chris Hardin and Andy Zabsky.
Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m., Wednesday evening at Mowery Funeral Service.
