Mildred Marie “Mickie” Karpuk was born October 11, 1924, in Schleswig, Iowa, to Peter Heinrich and Dorathea Mundt Claussen. She died Saturday, November 2, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years. Mickie was reared and educated in Schleswig, Iowa, and was a graduate of Schleswig High School. She was married September 9, 1947, in Sioux City, Iowa, to Edward Joseph Karpuk. In her early years as a mother, Mickie was a stay at home mom caring for her family. She later worked as a medical receptionist at different physicians’ offices in the Tulsa area. She was a faithful longtime member of St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Owasso and was active in the choir. She volunteered her time in serving others through local organizations such as Meals on Wheels and Neighbor For Neighbor. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes, especially bowling, in which she participated well in to her 80’s. She also enjoyed quilting and spending time gardening, particularly growing irises.

A visitation time will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2019, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Thursday, November 7, 2019, at St. Henry’s Catholic Church in Owasso with Father Matt LaChance and Father Richard Bradley officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Owasso.
