Jeff O. Mills Elementary celebrated today by receiving awards for attaining Model School status for 12 years in a row! Mills was the first Owasso school to begin the GE program. Great Expectations® is a professional development program that provides teachers and administrators with the skills needed to create harmony and excitement within the school atmosphere, elements that are basic for inspiring students to pursue academic excellence.
Today’s theme was, ” A Dozen Years of Excellence! ” with Krispy Kreme donating hats to each student and Wal-Mart donating enough donuts to provide one for each student and staff. Teachers and students enjoyed a celebration dance and performed a song written just for this award.
City of Owasso Councilor, Doug Bonebrake, declared today, Monday- May 15, 2017 by proclamation, “Mills Elementary Day” in the City of Owasso.
From Doug Bonebrake’s Owasso City Councilor Ward #5 Facebook page: “Mills Elementary is an outstanding school for many reasons; one being the first in Owasso to be certified as a Great Expectations school and another staying committed to it for 12 years in row. We’re grateful to past and present faculty and administration for buying into this character-based program and investing the extra effort needed to be certified each year. Mills deserves to be celebrated today for a job well-done!”
An exciting and well deserved day for Mills Elementary. Congratulations!
