Muriel Marie Houston Arlt was born December 9, 1921, in Lone Rock, Arkansas, to Thomas Jackson and Vada Lee King Finley. She died Monday, February 6, 2017, in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, at the age of 95 years. Muriel completed her secondary education in Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and graduated with the Broken Arrow High School Class of 1940. She continued her education graduating from nursing school in 1948. She was married May 8, 1948, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, to Roderic Nile Houston. Upon his death she married Art Alrt, who also preceded her in death. Muriel spent most of her working life as a register nurse with St. John Hospital in Tulsa and later with the American Red Cross. She was a longtime faithful member of the Church of Christ. She enjoyed a variety of pastimes including quilting, especially for family members. She also enjoyed spending most of her time within the work of her church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband Roderic, her second husband, Art Arlt, son Harold Houston, and brother, T.J. Finley.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 10, 2017, at Whispering Hills Church of Christ in Broken Arrow with Dale Graham officiating. Committal service and interment will follow at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens in Broken Arrow. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
