Floye Quinelle (Nell) McAnally stepped into eternal glory on Tuesday, February 23, 2021.
Nell was born on December 17, 1932 to James Charlie and Mavis Thorne Holt in Newton County, Mississippi.
She graduated from Hickory High School in Hickory, MS. She was an avid basketball player, and was a vital part of her high school basketball team winning the state championship game.
Nell was a telephone operator in Artesia, New Mexico, where she also met her future husband, Robert McAnally. They married on December 3, 1954, and she was his devoted wife for 65 years. They resided in New Mexico for 41 years before moving to Amarillo, TX for eight years, then Bartlesville, OK for sixteen years.
She was a wonderful stay-at-home mom who loved and cared for their four daughters. She was very engaged in each of their lives, and dearly loved all of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She filled her home with love, laughter, warmth, kindness, and made everyone feel welcome.
Her hobbies included, gardening, singing in the church choir, sewing clothes for her daughters, baking homemade rolls and pies, and canning the most amazing sweet chunk pickles. She loved to visit her grandchildren and watch them play sports or be a part of their church or school activities. She thoroughly enjoyed watching basketball games on tv, and cheering on the
OU Sooners alongside her husband. She spent many years serving and helping others at Mimbres Christian Camp in Mimbres, NM where she and her husband donated the property for the camp.
Nell was a committed Christian and a member of Town and Country Christian Church in Bartlesville, OK.
Nell was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Mavis Holt, her husband, Robert McAnally, and siblings, James Holt, William Holt, Gerald Holt, Vie Holt, and Eloise Callahan.She is survived by her daughters: Danita Bynum and husband, Gregg, of Amarillo, TX, Becky Harris and husband, Dean, of Gulfport, MS, Betty Ann Tomlinson and husband, Steve, of Bartlesville, OK, and Susan Meyer and husband, John, of Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by eight grandchildren: Shane Harris, Chad Harris, Drew Harris, Heidi Knight, Samuel Tomlinson, Colton Meyer, Casey Meyer, Cristian Meyer, and four great grandchildren: Cale Harris, Blake Harris, Eli Knight, and Owen Knight.
Nell is also survived by her siblings: Dorothy Mosley (Bob), Ann Airhart (David), Joyce Johnson (Jimmy), Via Everett (Dennis), Lavelle Holt, and sister-in-laws, Ruth Holt and Becky Munn, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She will be greatly missed in each of our lives.
