Owasso – Two of the state’s premier high school baseball programs will face off in the second annual St. John Battle of the Bats on Friday, April 25, at 7 p.m. The teams rotate home field advantage each year, and this year’s event will be held at Owasso High School’s Stigall Field, 12901 East 86th St. N in Owasso.
A press conference featuring players and coaches is scheduled for Monday, April 21, at 10:30 a.m. in the Owasso High School Wellness Center, located at 12901 East 86th St. N on the north end of the football stadium.
“The Broken Arrow and Owasso rivalry has produced some great battles on the baseball diamond,” said Shannon Dobson, Broken Arrow High School baseball coach. “Each meeting between these two premier programs is even more intense than the last one, and I expect nothing less from the 2014 Battle of the Bats event.”
Owasso athletic director Zach Duffield agreed, and said, “Owasso and Broken Arrow have two of the most successful baseball programs in the state of Oklahoma and the nation. Battle of the Bats provides a platform to take this storied rivalry to a new level.”
The first 300 fans to attend the Battle of the Bats game will receive a sport bottle with their team’s logo, courtesy of the St. John Health System. Other event extras include St. John Kids Club giveaways and health information provided by Tulsa Bone and Joint.
