On Saturday January 28th members of the Owasso Police Department conducted random alcohol sales compliance checks at local businesses throughout Owasso as part of the 2M2L program. The businesses checked include convenience stores, grocery stores and bars within the city limits of Owasso. Of the 28 businesses checked using an undercover underage customer, four businesses were found in violation and subsequently issued citations for selling liquor or beer to the underage buyer without checking the buyer’s identification.
Employees at the following business were issued citations for providing alcohol/beer to persons under 21 years old:
- QuikTrip 11502 E 76 ST N
Walgreens 11650 E 86 ST N
Owasso Liquor 8787 Owasso Expressway
Kwenchers Wine & Spirits 12914 E 86 ST N
The goal of the Owasso Police Department is to have 100% compliance from businesses during these random checks, which will continue to occur for the foreseeable future. When violations occur, we will continue to issue citations to those found violating the law. The businesses who were found in compliance are commended for their continued cooperation and we encourage all businesses who sell alcohol to continually train their employees on the importance of checking the identification on all potential underage buyers.
