“Art is a way for someone to express to others what they see in their own minds.
I did exactly what I had envisioned.
With this idea, I wanted to have an Eagle perched on a tree, overlooking the Battlefield Cross. With our Nations colors present. Including all the XVII Marines from Sangin.
They’re the reason I do what I do.”
Anthony created this piece after a request from Wounded Warrior Outdoors. It will be auctioned off on Saturday with all proceeds going to them.
Anthony tells us the sculpture could raise as much as 100,000 for the organization.
Former Sgt. Anthony Marquez spent five years in the Marines and has been creating commemorative wooden carvings for families of fallen and wounded soldiers since he left the service.
Anthony plans to update us with the exact amount the sculpture brings on Saturday.
