At the Oct. 1st City Council meeting Owasso Mayor Doug Bonebrake proclaimed the week of October 6th as “Fire Prevention Week” in the City of Owasso.
Owasso Fire Chief Chris Garrett said this years theme is “Prevent Kitchen Fires” “Get Cookn’ with Fire Safety”.
Kitchen and cooking fires are the leading causes of home fires in the United States. 2 out of every 5 home fires and 15% of home fire deaths are a result of residential kitchen fires.
Owassoisms has teamed up with the OWFD, beginning Sunday Oct. 6th thru Saturday Oct. 13th we will be posting a daily helpful fire prevention tip to help protect you and your family The Owasso FD will also be visiting schools through out the week talking to children about “Fire Safety”.
