03/22/2018: Owasso Police report a man shot by officers outside an Owasso home Wednesday evening died at a Tulsa hospital early Thursday morning.
Around 10:30pm, Owasso Officers were called to the home in the Lake Valley neighborhood near North 151st East Avenue and East 108th Street North..
When officers arrived, they made contact with a man who was holding an AK-47 rifle as well as a semi-automatic pistol. Police say officers ordered the man to drop the weapons. They says when the man walked toward the officers, they fired, striking the man.
The man’s family told News On 6, he served 16 years in the Air Force and suffered from PTSD.
The Owasso Police department has asked the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation to take over the investigation into the shooting.
Two officers are on routine suspension after the shooting. The names of the victim and officers have not been released.
