Owasso Police receive complaints from motorists about speeding, reckless and/or intoxicated drivers on Highway 20 on a daily basis.
In response, Owasso Police regularly conduct concentrated enforcement patrols in that corridor, and conducted another action last weekend. In just 1.5 hours, officers conducted 25 stops on vehicles traveling 15MPH to 25MPH over the posted 45MPH Speed Zone between US169 and N 145th E Ave.
While the installation of a traffic signal at QuikTrip at Highway 20 and US169 has helped in the sheer number of vehicles traveling at extreme speeds on what was such a dangerous section of roadway, there are still far too many drivers traveling upwards of 65 and 70MPH in that stretch.
Owasso Police will continue to conduct said patrols on HWY20, please be cognizant of the speed limits in that area, and stay alert for turning traffic at both 140th E Ave (QuikTrip) and 145th E Ave.
