04/15/2017   The Owasso Police Department has reported that on Monday, April 10th 2017 at approximately 1:00PM a Smith Elementary student advised school staff that she observed a adult male, wearing a ski mask, lurking in a wooded area adjacent to the school. Smith Elementary is located at 12223 East 91st Street North. 

Owasso Police were called, responded to the scene and conducted an extensive search of the interior and exterior of the school, as well as the surrounding wooded areas. No suspects were located.

Again on Wednesday, April 13th 2017 another Smith Elementary School student reported seeing a masked man in the same general area. Again, Owasso Police were dispatched and a similar response was conducted. During both incidents the school went on external lockdown procedures, and Owasso Police School Resource Officers as well as Patrol Officers conducted frequent safety checks of the school for the remainders of both school days. School staff has been diligent on keeping aware of surroundings around the school.

Police report while there has thus far been no evidence of a credible threat to students, Owasso Police and Owasso Public School staff have been vigilant and continue to conduct frequent safety checks of Smith Elementary.
