Owasso Schools Superintendent Dr. Clark Ogilvie announced that the Owasso School Board approved the hiring of a new Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Amy Fichtner at Monday night’s monthly board meeting. Dr. Fichtner will replace long-time Assistant Superintendent, David Hall who is retiring after a 37 year education career that included the last 11 years as Owasso’s Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum and Instruction.
Dr. Fichtner has recently served as an instructor at Southern Nazarene University and before that as Assistant Superintendent for Broken Arrow Public Schools for 3 years. The majority of her career has been at Broken Arrow Schools where she also served as an elementary school principal, middle school principal, and as a teacher where she was twice named as a building Teacher of the Year.
Dr. Fichtner recently completed her Doctorate in Education from the University of Oklahoma in the field of Curriculum and Instruction and holds a Masters of Arts in Education Leadership from Southern Nazarene University and a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education from Northeastern State University.
Dr. Ogilvie indicated that he was excited for Dr. Fichtner to join the district’s central office administrative team—“she brings a great skill set to our district and we are looking forward to working with her in the years to come said Ogilvie, I believe she will prove to be highly capable in every aspect of her new position!”
Dr. Fichtner will begin her duties with the district effective July 1, 2015.
