For the past 3 months Owasso Senior Kyle Hamrick has been auditioning in Houston and South Carolina for a spot in a World Class Drum Corps International Marching Band. Out of 150 baritones nationwide, Kyle made the cut of 28 and will be on a U.S. tour this summer with “The Carolina Crown.”
Based out of Fort Mill, South Carolina, this Carolina Crown is the largest performing ensemble offered by the Carolina Crown Organization. Students from all over the world come to audition on an annual basis to become part of this national touring group consisting of 150 members. The general make-up of the group is young people between the ages of 16 and 22 who aspire to become music educators, performing artist and the leaders of tomorrow. While touring the United States the group performs while participating in competitions held in conjunction with Drum Corps International.
Kyle severed as a Drum Major for the Pride of Owasso Marching band this year. He is the son of Matt and Penny Hamrick of Owasso.
