Patricia ‘Pat’ Kay Black, age 72, peacefully left this world to forever worship with Jesus in heaven at dawn on July 1st, 2023.
She was born in Huntington Beach, CA on January 28th, 1952 to Carl and Joanne Conavay. She grew up in Illinois and Southern California. She had four children, two husbands, Mike Smith and Donald Black, and her life partner and man she spent the second half of her life with, Terry Ford. She was a loving mother, devoted daughter, kind neighbor, and beloved friend.
Pat was a strong and adventurous woman. The most defining thread of her life was her faith in and love of God. She loved to travel, cook, and be creative. She took great joy in interior design and planting her garden each spring. Christmas was her favorite time of year. She enjoyed baking for her loved ones and neighbors. Her work life was spent caring for others and baking. She was a Christian woman and prayer warrior. Almost all who knew her loved her and were touched by her sweet, kindness. She cared for the suffering of the world and did her best to embody God’s love.
Pat was preceded in death by her first husband and love of her life Mike Smith, and their baby Aaron Smith, her second baby Carrie Ann Black, her father Carl Conavay, and her mother Joanne Conavay.
She is survived by her son Kenneth Black, daughter Mikyö (Kristin) Black, her partner Terry Ford, and brother Mark Conavay, and sister-in-law Dawn Conavay.
