Should pregnant women get the flu shot?
Answer:
It is recommended that all pregnant women get the flu shot during flu season (October-March). To be clear, a pregnant woman should only get the intramuscular injection form of the vaccine (the standard flu shot) not the intranasal form, as it contains a live virus. If you are allergic to eggs or had a previous reaction to the flu vaccine, then unfortunately you cannot get it. As always speak to your doctor to make sure you are current on all of your needed vaccines.
