RCS High School hosts April 1 American Red Cross Blood Drive
One pint of blood can save up to three lives, according to the American Red Cross. Plus, every two seconds someone in the United States needs blood, and more than 44,000 blood donations are needed every day. To help others, Rejoice Christian Schools’ National Honor Society is hosting a blood drive in conjunction with the American Red Cross.
The Rejoice Christian High School Blood Drive is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 1, at Rejoice Christian Schools’ South Campus, 12200 E. 86th St. N. The event is open to the public, and please contact RCS High School teacher Rita Ramirez at rramirez@rejoiceschool.com to sign up for the blood drive.
Everyone is encouraged to donate blood to the American Red Cross, and 80 percent of blood donations are collected through American Red Cross mobile drives like the April 1 Rejoice Christian High School Blood Drive.
Currently, RCS is planning to collect 16 units of blood; however, the school will receive a $250 scholarship if they receive 30 units of blood. The scholarship would be given to a RCS senior who participates in National Honor Society (NHS), and the NHS senior with the most service hours will receive the scholarship. Even better, the donated blood will help many local families with health conditions.
Visit www.redcross.org for more information about the American Red Cross and to see if you qualify to donate blood. Also, the organization’s website offers additional information about the blood drive process, including permission slips for 16 year-old teenagers.
