Richard Allen Leach passed away August 22, 2016, at St. John’s Medical Center in Tulsa, at the age of 78. He was born May 19, 1938, in Springdale, Arkansas to Ira and Laverne (Griggs) Leach. He graduated from Owasso High School in 1957.
He began his working career at Coca-Cola, where he worked for 19 years. He then began working as a truck driver. He enjoyed working part-time for Quantum Aviation. His hobbies included racing at the Tulsa Motor Speedway and being a 50 year member of the Tulsa Roadster Club. He was a loving husband to Velma for 51 years, as well as a devoted father and grandfather. He will be greatly missed by friends and family.
Richard was preceded in death by his parents, Ira and Laverne Leach as well as his brother, Ronald. Richard is survived by his wife, Velma and his children: son, Chris Leach of Johnson City, Texas (wife, Sarah), daughter, Sherri (Leach) Hall of Baxter Springs, Kansas (husband Joe), daughter, Kelly (Leach) Hanson of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma (husband Harold), daughter, Debbie Stover of Owasso, Oklahoma (husband Daniel), sister-in- law, Paula Vance, sister, Judy (Leach) Wilhelm, of Owasso, Oklahoma (husband Johnny), sister, Linda (Leach) Williams of Tulsa, Oklahoma and extended loving family including numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 26, 2016 at Resthaven Funeral Home in Shawnee, Oklahoma. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park in Shawnee, Oklahoma. A celebration of Life service will be held in Owasso, Oklahoma with a later date to beannounced.
In lieu of flowers, the family request a contribution be made to the Community Resource Center of Owasso, Oklahoma or the American Heart Association.
