Robert Wayne (Bob) Morris, longtime resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Tuesday evening February 2, 2016 at his home following a long battle with cancer. He was 76 years of age. Bob was born December 8, 1939 in Boonville, Missouri, the son of Harvey and Vera (Huecker) Morris. His mother died when he was young and his father later remarried. He was raised and received his education in Lynwood, California. Bob served his country in the United States Air Force with the 9th Civil Engineer Squadron, Mountain Home, Idaho. On April 24, 1965, he and June McGovern were united in marriage in Lynwood. Bob worked for Continental Airlines as a supervisor of passenger services, transferring to Oklahoma in 1972 with the airlines. He and June made their home in Owasso. He retired from Continental in 2002. Following his retirement, he worked for the Owasso Public School system as a bus driver. Bob was a member of Saint Henry Catholic Church, was a past officer with the Owasso Band Patrons and had been active with the Scout Troop 93. He enjoyed golf, taking train trips, travelling, fishing, and was an avid bird watcher. Bob was also a longtime blood donor.
Those that survive and hold many cherished memories are his wife of almost 51 years – June; children: Andrea Frantz and husband Russell of Hailey, ID, Paula Ashcraft and husband Martin of Wylie, TX and Gart Morris and wife Kelley of Broken Arrow, OK; and one sister – Kay Cane of Cypress, CA. Also surviving are five grandchildren Hannah Frantz and fiancé Andy Roberts, Rebecca Dixon and husband Kyle, Robert Morris, Rachel Morris, Ryan Morris and a great grandson Gunner Robert Dixon, and many other family and close friends. Bob was preceded in death by his parents and stepmother Mary Morris.
At Bob’s request, cremation has taken place. There will be a rosary recited on Monday evening February 8, 2016 at 7pm in the sanctuary of Saint Henry Catholic Church. A memorial mass will be said Tuesday, February 9th at 2pm following a noon luncheon at the church. Father Matt LaChance will be officiating. Inurnment of his cremains will follow at Saint Therese Catholic Cemetery Columbarium in Collinsville with military honors accorded by the U.S. Air Force.
