Owasso, OK – October 11, 2016 – Rocky Sickmann, a recent retiree of Anheuser-Busch and survivor of the Iran Hostage Crisis, is joining Folds of Honor as Senior VP, Budweiser Accounts. In this new role, Sickmann will focus on the organization’s foundation development, as well as managing Folds of Honor’s existing partnership with Anheuser-Busch.
“We are pleased to add Rocky Sickmann to our team,” said Major Dan Rooney, founder and president of Folds of Honor. “Rocky brings great leadership qualities and business acumen to our organization, but he also embodies our mission. We are confident that his personal history and business background will continue to drive Folds of Honor forward.”
With his involvement in Folds of Honor, Sickmann hopes to educate and encourage others to support this important mission. “In 1980, eight heroric servicemen died attempting to free me and the rest of the Iranian Hostges. Their sacrifice is one I will never forget. I know first-hand that freedom doesn’t come without sacrifice. For that I am incredibly honored to serve with an organization that is dedicated to helping families who’s loved ones make the ultimate sacrifice for our country,” Sickmann says.
Sickmann served as a U.S. Marine Corps at the American Embassy in Tehran, Iran in 1979, during which a mob of Iranian militants took Sickmann and 53 others hostage for 444 days. Following his service in the Marines, he joined Anheuser-Busch, where he focused on market penetration among the Military in various roles; most recently, he was the director of military and industry affairs for the company.
