Ronald Wayne McMillian was born December 22, 1948, in Skiatook, Oklahoma, to Charles Wayne McMillian and Zelma Ilean Owens McMillian Williams. He died Tuesday, June 11, 2024, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 75 years. Ron completed his secondary education and graduated with the Caney Valley High School Class of 1966. He was a veteran of the armed forces having served his country honorably with the United States Army during the Vietnam War and was a Purple Heart recipient.
Ron was married July 2, 1971, in Vera, Oklahoma, to Karen Williams. He spent most of his professional career as a laboratory technician with Public Service Company of Oklahoma, retiring after 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and spending time with his family. Ron had a second career that he also considered his second family spanning a lifetime in the breeding and showing of horses including an AQHA Champion and multiple World and Reserve World Champions for more than 40 years. He was a past President of the Ozark Quarter Horse Association, a past member of the Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association Board of Directors. Ron has served as a Ring Steward for the past 35 years for numerous prestigious World Champion Shows for the American Quarter Horse Association, Palomino Horse Breeders of America, American Paint Horse Association, Pinto Horse Association of America, American Buckskin Registry of America, American Miniature Horse Association, Appaloosa Horse Club, National Snaffle Bit Association as well as many other high profile national shows. He was a member of the 2010 Pinto Horse Association of America Hall of Fame, the 2023 Oklahoma Quarter Horse Association Hall of Fame, and recipient of the Pinto Horse Association Million Mile Award.

Sister; Kristin McMillian, of Collinsville, Oklahoma
And a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Ilean McMillian
Visitation will be held from 4:00 P.M. to 8:00 p.m. Thursday, June 13, 2024, at the Mowery Funeral Service Chapel in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 1:30 p.m. Friday, at the Collinsville Free Will Baptist Church with Dr. Craig Shaw officiating. Serving as casket bearers will be Darrell Bilke, Cam Foreman, Buddy Winchester, Rick Stevens, Jeff Owens, and Leonard Berryhill. Serving as honorary casket bearers will be Don Manuelo and Gary Lomax. Final military rites and flag presentation will be provided by the United States Army. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Ron’s memory to the Pinto Horse Association of American, Attn: Ron McMillian Scholarship Fund, 7330 Northwest 23rd Street, Bethany, Oklahoma, 73008. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
