On Friday, 03/18/2022, at approximately 0212 hrs., the Owasso 911 Center received multiple 911 calls in reference to shots (fired) being heard in the area of 500 N. Cedar St. Officers saturated the area in an attempt to locate the source of the shots. While checking the vicinity, officers also heard several shots coming from that block.
Officers located a vehicle in the driveway of a residence at 400 N. Dogwood. Officers observed the vehicle to be running with its taillights on. While investigating Officers observed a male subject setting in the driver’s seat, and holding a handgun to his own head, as well as spent shell casings in the car.
Officers ordered the subject to drop the weapon. The subject ignored the Officers commands and then rapidly reversed out of the driveway, and while doing so, he struck multiple patrol vehicles, one of which was occupied. The subject then fled westbound on E. 4th Street and while attempting to make a turn onto N Birch Street got stuck in the mud immediately adjacent to the roadway.
The subject then exited his vehicle and fled on foot running through multiple yards. Officers pursued and were ultimately able to catch the subject in the area of 500 N. Main St. While taking the subject into custody, it was discovered he had a large amount of cash money on his person. Located inside the vehicle were a loaded 9mm Glock handgun and several spent shell casings.
Arrested was 21yo Trevor Jordan Smith of Sapulpa.
Charges to include:
- Assault with a Dangerous Weapon x 2
- Felony Eluding Police
- Resisting Police/Arrest
- Discharging a Weapon from a Vehicle
- Possession of Firearms (After Former Conviction of Felony)
Officers conducted an extensive canvass of the area in an attempt to locate any possible victims or items of evidentiary value. No victims or further evidentiary items were located. It was determined that the house that the subject was parked at was an acquaintance of the subject.
