On 11/20/2014, at approximately 2:45 pm, Owasso Police and EMS were dispatched to a possible shooting inside Billy Sims BBQ, which is located at 12416 E 86 ST N in Owasso. Witnesses initially reported a single victim inside the restaurant suffering from a gunshot wound.
Based on the initial investigation, it appears that a subject at a neighboring business was inspecting a 9mm handgun and accidentally discharged the firearm. The projectile passed through the wall and traveled into Billy Sims BBQ. The bullet came to rest after impacting a cash register inside the restaurant, but a male employee received superficial injuries to his arm from possibly being struck with bullet fragments or debris.
The injured employee was treated at the scene by Owasso Medics and released. Owasso Detectives are still on scene completing the investigation to determine if criminal charges will be pursued.
