On Friday, March 25, 2016 at approximately 1130AM Owasso Police, Fire and Medics responded to a reported serious injury collision at the intersection of 10600 North Memorial Drive, in Owasso. Upon arrival, officers observed a two-car collision had occurred between a vehicle traveling southbound on N Memorial and a vehicle traveling eastbound on E 106 St N. While there are posted stop signs for east and westbound traffic, north and southbound traffic may travel unobstructed.
Preliminary investigation leads us to believe that the eastbound vehicle failed to yield from a posted stop sign to the southbound at that intersection. Both cars were single occupant vehicles, both of which were rushed to area hospitals by Owasso Fire Paramedics. The driver of the southbound vehicle was listed in serious condition but unfortunately the driver of the eastbound vehicle, 46yo Gregory Loyd Stearns of Tahlequah OK, was pronounced dead at the hospital at approximately 1245PM this afternoon.
106th and Memorial was closed in all directions for approximately 3 hours while investigators worked the scene, but is now open in all directions.
