Born in 1955, Thomas Monahan was raised in Brooklyn, NY where he lived on Avenue J with his two brothers, two sisters and four cousins. Tommy was the oldest of the nine children living under the same roof. He had a gift of making people laugh and making any situation more accessible. He was a fiercely loyal brother and friend. In the 1980s, Tommy moved to New Jersey, where he enjoyed his Harley and found connections with others in the biking community. He established Monotronics, an electrical device support service. When his Uncle Robert Reynolds became ill, Tommy decided to return to Brooklyn for good, staying there to assist his family in the daily care for Robert’s health. Later on, he remained as a primary family caretaker of his wonderful mother, Eleanor Monahan. Following Eleanor’s passing, Tommy moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma to live near the large family of his sister, Laura Yanulis. There he was warmly welcomed by the families of his six nieces and nephews and renewed his passion for motorcycles, building strong friendships in motorbike clubs.
He is mourned by his Godmother, Gertrude Quinlan, his brothers Robert and Bryan, his sisters Laura and Maureen, his cousins, Eileen, Jimmy, Catherine and Joseph and by his many beloved nieces and nephews, both near and far. In their eyes, he was and will always remain warm, accessible, and authentic Uncle Tommy.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you leave condolences on the memorial page.
