How to Properly Freeze Berries
Now is THE time to stock up on berries since they are in season and at their lowest price. It kills me to pay $5 for strawberries in December when we are paying less than $2 for them now. However, if you’re going to freeze berries, it is important to do it the right way. A few summers ago, I picked blueberries at a local farm. The farmer told me that there was a way to freeze berries so that they don’t stick together or get freezer burn. I thought I’d share that with you today.
First, place wax paper on a cookie sheet. Then, lay the berries (unwashed) onto the cookie sheet. Freeze them overnight and then place them in a freezer bag. They’ll last at least 1 year if you do it properly. The same method can be done with any fruit but it works better with berries.
