02/26/2018 — Fifty-six students are set to compete in the Scripps Green Country Regional Spelling Bee on March 3. Each participant has earned a spot in the regional bee by winning his or her school or home school spelling bee.
2 Works for You, Kenco Engineering and Tulsa Tech are proud to bring the Scripps National Spelling Bee to Green Country again in 2018. The Regional Bee will be held at the Tulsa Technology Center in Owasso. The bee begins at 10 a.m. and is free and open to the public. 2 Works for You will stream the competition live on KJRH.com.
The winner of the Scripps Green Country Regional Bee will win a trip to Washington D.C. to represent Eastern Oklahoma in the Scripps National Spelling Bee in May.
This year, 2 Works for You morning anchor Scott Thompson will emcee the event. Slated judges include Commissioner Karen Keith, Tulsa Tech school board president Mark Griffin, and 2 Works for You evening anchor Brian Sanders. Laura Raphael of the Tulsa City-County will serve as recorder and David Ragland, president of Kenco Engineering will be the pronouncer.
