BACKGROUND:
The upcoming Veteran Employment & Resource Fair, co-hosted by the Muskogee VA Regional Office and the Eastern Oklahoma VA Health Care System, offers employment readiness resources to Veterans, including resume building support, tips for interviews, wardrobe assistance, college and vocational training resources, volunteer opportunities, and financial planning services.
Organizations participating in the event include government, non-profit, and for-profit employers, plus vocational training facilities and institutions of higher learning.
VA representatives will be on-site to assist Veterans with VA benefits and services, and how to file VA claims.
Food trucks will be available.
VA Regional Offices provide financial and other forms of assistance to Veterans and their dependents. This includes disability compensation, survivor’s benefits, pension and fiduciary service, education and training, vocational rehabilitation and employment assistance, life insurance coverage, and home loan guaranties. VA disability compensation (pay) offers a monthly tax-free payment to Veterans who got sick or injured while serving in the military and to Veterans whose service made an existing condition worse.
For more information about VA benefits and eligibility or how to file a claim, visit VA.gov or call at 1-800-827-1000.
