Vernia Lillian H. Roberts was born October 31, 1937, in Jonesboro, Arkansas to Clarence Leonard Hillburn Sr. and Lillian Neugene (Webb) Hillburn. She passed from this life on Monday, August 5, 2019, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, at the age of 81 years. Vernia was raised at the Francis E. Willard Home for Girls in Tulsa, Oklahoma and graduated with the Will Rogers High School Class of 1956 while she lived there. Vernia was married on April 19, 1957 at Beams of Light Tabernacle in Tulsa to Donald Rae Roberts. She spent most of her working life as a church secretary at Brookhaven Christian Church in Tulsa for almost 35 years. She was a faithful member at Beams of Light Tabernacle most of her life until Don started and pastored Grace Gospel Church in Jennings, Oklahoma, where she attended and supported him. Vernia enjoyed a variety of pastimes such as working the front desk and visiting with people at the YMCA in Tulsa, watching and listening to politics, watching western and John Wayne movies, and most recently watching football.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2019, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Graveside service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 12, 2019, at the Memorial Park Cemetery Chapel in Tulsa with Reverend Leonard Pirtle officiating. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
