Wesley Allen Szwedo was born September 29, 1961, in Waukegan, Illinois, to John A. Szwedo and Elizabeth June Rhudy (Szwedo). He died Tuesday, December 3, 2024, in Talala, Oklahoma, at the age of 63 years. Wes completed his secondary education in Zion, Illinois, where he was a graduate from Zion Benton High School. He continued his studies attending the College of Lake County in Grayslake, Illinois. Wes spent most of his professional career at Cardinal Health where he worked in Pricing & Contracts and as a Distribution sales representative with Cardinal Health. He was married April 2, 2014, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, to Catherine Dawn Carney.
​Wes was a strong man of faith and attended First Baptist Church in Owasso, where he and Kathy ministered to other cancer patients through their Journey of Hope Cancer Ministry. Wes enjoyed a variety of pastimes including gardening and traveling. He also enjoyed music and going to concerts. Some of his hobbies Included collecting antique clocks, camping stoves and Coleman lanterns. Wes was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears.

He is survived by his loving wife, Kathy; daughters, Kelly Szwedo (Tyler Funk), Leia Haugland (Bryan); Stepdaughter, Jenny Rigney (Sam). Survivors also include; sister Edith O’Brion (Patrick); brother John D. Szwedo; grandchildren Elodie Haugland, Calla Haugland, Liam Haugland, Ryker Haugland, Arianna Gatzke, and Corbin Gatzke.

​Visitation will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Mowery Funeral Service in Owasso. Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Monday, December 9, 2024, at First Baptist Church of Owasso with Pastor Chris Wall officiating. Private family disposition will be held at a later date. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Wes’ memory to First Baptist Church Journey of Hope Cancer Ministry, P.O. Box 1020, Owasso, Oklahoma, 74055. Arrangements and services were entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso.
