William David “Bill” Crossman, resident of Turley, passed from this life on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at the age of 66 years. Bill was born November 2, 1948, in Coffeyville, Kansas, to David and Sarah Elizabeth (Rogers) Crossman. After spending his early years in Coffeyville, the family moved to Tulsa where he completed his education, graduating from McLain HS with the class of 1966. Bill later attended the University of Oklahoma where he received his bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1971. On June 12, 1970, he and Vickie Lou Lewis were united in marriage at the Turley United Methodist Church. They have made Tulsa home for the last 40 years. Bill worked for Fin-X as a computer programmer. He was an active member of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, serving as the choir director. Music and family were priorities to him, but was also an avid supporter of University of Oklahoma athletics, especially football.
Those that survive include his wife Vickie of the home; his mother Sarah “Liz” Crossman of Tulsa; two children: Michael Crossman and wife Linda and their children Nathaniel and Nicholas all of Frisco, TX, and Melanie Crossman and children Alex and Allie of Tulsa. Also surviving are a sister Kathy Velazquez and husband Jose of Tulsa and a brother Randy Crossman and wife Pam of Durant, OK as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends. Bill was preceded in death by his father.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation will take place with a memorial service being held on Friday, May 29, 2015, in the sanctuary of St. Mark’s United Methodist Church, Tulsa, with Pastor Barry Hayes and Pastor Richard Brasher officiating. The family requests that those wanting to honor Bill’s memory, do so by making donations to the St. Mark’s UMC – Music Program, 10513 East Admiral Place, Tulsa, OK 74116 in lieu of flowers.
