Wilma Bernice Ferrebee, resident of Owasso, passed from this life on Monday evening, July 7, 2014 at the age of 98 years. Wilma was born June 7, 1916 At Wirt, Oklahoma to Thomas H. and Grace (Miller) Sager. Because of her father’semployment, she grew up in a number of places, graduating as a valedictorian of the Burbank High School Class of1933, where she also played basketball. On January 26, 1934 Wilma and Loren Paul Ferrebee were united in marriageat Pawhuska, OK. They made their home at Denoya, OK before moving to Kansas. In the 1960’s, they moved to Davis, OK, making their home there until 2004, when they moved to Owasso. Loren preceded her in death in April of 2011. Wilma & Loren loved traveling; she was also an excellent seamstress and loved to crochet. Being with family and cooking were also a priority with her. Wilma was also a lifetime member of the Eastern Star.
Those that survive include her daughters – Judy Grimes and husband J.R. of Claremore, Yvonne Adams and husband Jac of Banning, California; grandchildren – Tony Anderson and wife Monika of Owasso, Terry Anderson of Huntington Beach, CA, Shelly Buckendorf of Owasso, Geoffrey Justice of Denver, CO, Valerie A. Adams of Nevada, MO; great grandchildren Priscilla Wright, Tony Paul Anderson, Eric Buckendorf, Danielle Buckendorf, Joshua Allen, Nathanial Slichenmyer, Cheyanne Slichenmyer and two great great grandchildren Logan Woods and Chloe Lin Wright. Besides her husband, Wilma was preceded in death by her parents, 3 brothers and 2 sisters.
There will be a public visitation of Thursday, July 10, 2014 from 2pm – 8pm at Mowery Funeral Service. Private family services will be Friday, July 11th at the funeral home with Chaplain Roger Sheppard of Hospice Advantage officiating. Burial will be next to her husband in the Green Hill Cemetery, Davis, OK. Arrangements and services have been entrusted to Mowery Funeral Service of Owasso. www.moweryfs.com
